Also known as: Alprazolam
Alprac (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen). It is thought that alprazolam works by enhancing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.
Alprac is used to treat anxiety disorders and anxiety caused by depression.
Alprac is also used to treat panic disorders with or without a fear of places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness, or embarrassment (agoraphobia).
It is dangerous to purchase Alprac on the Internet or outside the United States. The sale and distribution of medicines outside the U.S. does not comply with safe-use regulations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These medications may contain dangerous ingredients, or may not be distributed by a licensed pharmacy.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results.
Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.
Measure the liquid form of Alprac with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
Do not swallow the orally disintegrating tablets whole. Allow it to dissolve in your mouth without chewing.
Contact your doctor if this medicine seems to stop working as well in treating your panic or anxiety symptoms.
You may have seizures or withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Alprac. Ask your doctor how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Alprac.
Keep track of the amount of medicine used from each new bottle. Alprac is a drug of abuse and you should be aware if anyone is using your medicine improperly or without a prescription.
If you have been prescribed Alprac for medical reasons, the best way to avoid a Alprac overdose is to adhere to prescribed orders—closely monitor your dose and the time at which you take your medication. Track your Alprac consumption in a notebook or on your phone. If you notice that you are taking a higher dose of the drug, taking the drug more often, or you want to consume more of the drug, talk with your doctor immediately.
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Ask your healthcare professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use.
It is very important to protect the orally disintegrating tablets from moisture. Remove and throw away any cotton packaging from the medicine bottle when you first use the medicine.
